Isaac William Smith was a member of the Dartmouth College Class of 1846. He was admitted to the bar in 1850 and practiced in Manchester, New Hampshire. In 1877, he was appointed an associate justice in the New Hampshire Supreme Judicial Court. He was named a trustee of Dartmouth College in 1885 and held that post until his death. Wheelock Graves Veazey was born in Brentwood, New Hampshire, on December 5, 1835. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1859and went on to study at the Law School at Albany, New York. He began his law practice in Springfield, Vermont, in 1860. He married Julia A. Beard, daughter of the Hon. Albin Beard and Julia A. (Crooker) Beard, of Nashua, New Hampshire.
