Richard H. Anthony was a Providence native and Brown University graduate, class of 1925. His distinguished career included working as a journalist in Paris for the European edition of New York Herald Tribune, where he covered the landings of Charles E. Lindburgh and Richard E. Byrd on their respective transatlantic flights in 1927. This collection of papers includes a collection of autographs of Byrd, and co-pilots Bernt Balchen, Bertrand B. Acosta and George O. Noville, who accompanied him on his historic flight from New York to the coast of Normandy on July 1, 1927.

Richard H. Anthony was born in Providence, Rhode Island on June 20, 1903, son of Frank J. Anthony, a well-known architect, and Lilias Hall Anthony.
