Correspondence, scrapbook, and photographs. Letters are from Gates' father, John T. Brush, and Harry S. New; one concerns Harry M. Daugherty in the wake of the Teapot Dome Scandal. The scrapbook contains memorabilia of her social life and activities in the local and national Junior League. Photographs are of the Brush family.

A native of Clintonville, New York, Brush was a businessman. He moved to Indianapolis in 1875 and founded the When Clothing Company. In 1885 he became involved in bringing baseball franchises to Indianapolis, and later owned the Cincinnati Red Legs and the New York Giants.
