The Taylor family is one of the oldest, most wide spread, and prominent families in Kentucky. Immigrants from Virginia, family members settled throughout the state. Colonel Richard Taylor and his brother, Hancock, explored the Ohio River Valley and were among the earliest to descend the river to New Orleans.
