Extensive interviews with Tommy Jarrell (1901-1984), old-time fiddler and banjo player from Mount Airy, N.C.; his oldest sister, Julie Jarrell Lyons, ballad singer from Round Peak, N.C.; and other family members about family history, community history, and the musical heritage of the Jarrell family. Also included are live performances of old-time tunes on the fiddle and banjo and old-time songs by Tommy Jarrell with ballads, hymns, and religious songs by Julie Jarrell Lyons.
