Two video recordings of Walter Raleigh Babson (1900-1987), Anglo- American fiddler and banjo player, of Ash, Brunswick County, N.C., performing with Andy Cahan at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. Babson plays an old time picking style of banjo and performs folk and popular tunes from the early 1900s, including old time tunes and songs, gospel songs, parlor songs, and swing. Andy Cahan, at that time a graduate student in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Curriculum in Folklore, accompanies Mr. Babson on guitar and banjo.
