Joseph M. Carey and Robert D. Carey were the only father and son to be elected governors of Wyoming. Joseph Carey served on the Wyoming Territorial Supreme Court from 1871-1876, served as delegate to Congress from the territory from 1885 until statehood in 1889, and was one of the state's first United States senators from 1890 to 1895.
