Published, p. 39, with one omission: he was glad to have seen George looking so "ruddy and well." At present he himself shows "more reflection of English chalk than of Highland heather." At her leisure, he hopes she will send a line of forgiveness, letting him know how they all are. "Miss Gray does not write quite often enough--though, we have to thank her for longer letters than of old." As to Perth, he "had not forgotten in--but the day was unfavourable--and my eyes were dim." Please "thank Mr. Gray for his kind forbearance ..." [P.S.] Mr. MacDonald wishes to be remembered to Miss Gray. In Edinburgh he had the pleasure of dining with Mr. Sheriff Jameson and his wife.
