Thanking him for the £4. Mentioning that he has been unable to leave as yet because he is expecting a letter from Nairne and must still settle his hotel bill. Asking Smithers to "try & send me all you possibly can" by the weekend, when he proposes to return. Expressing anxiety to "get the thing settled by Xmas which is now painfully near."
