Saying that Le villi is definitely scheduled for the coming year at Covent Garden, that the singers are (or may be) "la Heams" [i.e. Emma Eames?] (soprano), [Raffaele] Grani (tenor), Plançon (bass), that he has arranged with Carl Rosa's company to give La bohème in English the singers can thus be expected to be "semi-cani," except for the women, who appear to be good (there is no need to be alarmed: the London public is accustomed to hearing wrong notes without complaint because whoever sings out of tune does so "con coraggio e abbia un nome ben conosciuto"), asking how Tosca is progressing, saying that the Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut and a symphony by Franchetti will be played that week at Queen's Hall, mentioning Carmen, Faust, Cavalleria [rusticana], Giacosa, etc.
