Declining a dinner invitation and joking about some expensive ceremonial mugs he had requested from Evans: "I have seen just now a tankard so very handsome that my soul longs for it. It is dear 32£--but--but I suppose you would go so far as 20 for the other cups, and I would easy work out the other 12 in contributionry for Punch."
