A draft of his affectionate dedication of "The Columbiad" to Robert Fulton, with revisions. "My dear friend, This poem is your property ... My poem, having grown up under your eye, much benefited by your observations as well as by those of my excellent wife as to come forward, I find, ornamented by your genius ... let it live, as long as it is to live, a monument to our friendship: you cannot need it as a monument of your fame."
