Joseph Crawhall album : London, assembled 1890.

An album of pen-and-ink and watercolor drawings, engravings, photographs, bookplates, clippings, pamphlets, printed programs, and autograph letters and documents by Crawhall and others. The drawings, photographs, letters, and most engravings are described in individual records (MA 4981.1-78). Highlights of the album include a bookplate by Thomas Bewick; a bookplate of Bilibald Pirckheimer designed by Albrecht Dürer; watercolor sketches of a cow and a sheep by Crawhall; pen sketches by James Guthrie; a watercolor sketch by Edward Arthur Walton of a shepherd playing a flute and sheep on brown paper; a woodcut of a lobster by Robert Elliot Bewick; photographs of Jane and Isabella Bewick, William Makepeace Thackeray, Mark Lemon, John Leech, Charles S. Keene, John Collingwood Bruce, and others; and autograph letters from such artists, writers, publishers, and engravers as Charles M. Adamson, Jane Bewick, Robert Chambers, William Chappell, Myles Birket Foster, James Guthrie, George James Howard, Charles S. Keene, William Bell Scott, Andrew Tuer, and others.
