Consists of three letters between William B. Goodwin and his cousin, J.P. Morgan, concerning the portrait of Joseph Morgan commissioned for the new Aetna building in Hartford, Conn. Also includes two photographs: one of a daguerreotype of Joseph Morgan and the other of a painting of the portrait.

William Goodwin was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Rev. Francis Goodwin and Mary Alsop Jackson Goodwin. He attended Saint Paul's School in New Hampshire, Trinity College, and graduated from Yale in 1888. He worked for the Aetna Insurance company for 40 years as a sepcial agent in Ohio, Seattle, and San Francisco.
