Writing to his sister-in-law, widow of his brother Henry Ware Eliot Jr., Eliot discusses his upcoming travel plans to the States and to Milan to see the first performance of Murder in the Cathedral as an opera, mentions his desire to avoid the press while in the States and the strain of publicity, refers to his wife Valerie's busy schedule and mentions his hope that his new play [The elder statesman] will be successful.
