Autograph letter signed, dated : Edinburgh, 29 March 1757, to [William Mason], 1757 Mar. 29.

Saying that Mr. Walsh has told him that Mason would like to see the music Pasquali composed to Mason's "Odes in Elfrida," promising to transcribe one of them "from the blotted original" and, if Mason likes it, to send the rest, warning Mason that "when I did set them I paid more regard to the scanty abilities of my intended Performers, and to the uncultivated Taste of the gross of my hearers, than to the dignity and lofty sentiments of the Words," mentioning his patron, "and sometime scholar," the Earl of Holderness, etc.
