Concerning the season at Covent Garden, saying that he was offered an engagement in Rio de Janeiro (which he refused), that they gave Ponchielli's Lituani in St. Petersburg--a great success, but it is not an opera for London--, that in 15 days they give [Delibes's] Lakmé with [Marie] Van Zandt, mentioning Gye, Hall, etc.
