Autograph letter signed, dated : Paris, to Ferdinand Laforest, 1827 Oct. 12.

Saying that he hopes Laforest will never experience the unendurable sufferings he has been through since Laforest left, that for now he is not capable of describing the circumstances "de mon triste Roman," that he is preparing for the performance of his Mass, harshly criticizing Adolphe Nourrit's performance in [Spontini's] Vestale three days before, saying that the bottom register of Nourtit's voice is weak and that he presumed to alter the recitatives from one end of the score to the other (Berlioz writes out a musical example showing what Spontini wrote and what Nourrit sang), mentioning [Jean-Franc̦ois] Le Sueur, etc.
