Autograph letter signed, dated : Leipzig, 18 November 1840, to Mrs. [Ignaz] Moscheles in London, 1840 Nov. 18.

Saying that he fancies [Ignaz] Moscheles once more installed "an ihre Fireside (deutsch ist das gar nicht zu sagen)," that after leaving they had some pleasant days (which Moscheles's and Chorley's letters have decribed to her), expressing regret that [Ignaz] Moscheles will not return soon, expressing affection for Moscheles and wondering when Mrs. Moscheles will love Cécile [Mendelssohn's wife] and feel at home and intimate with her, mentioning his son Carl, etc.; toward the end of the letter Mendelssohn writes out his song "Des Hirten Winterlied" [Hirtenlied, op. 57, no.2]; Mendelssohn's wife, Cécile, has added a signed postscript.
