Saying that there were two reasons she did not reply to his letter accompanying their contract: he had accepted all her conditions, and her busy life scarcely leaves her time to breathe, adding that she is glad to hear her sister [Pauline Viardot] and Carlo [i.e. Charles-Auguste de Bériot] are well, sending greetings to Cottreau [i.e. Guglielmo? Cottrau], Benedict, Lablash [i.e. Luigi Lablache], Calvarola, etc.
