Of a social nature, thanking her for gifts and flowers, commenting on the outbreak of the war and his concern for his relatives in Warsaw, sending news of his family, his teaching, saying that Haupt has never been his pupil but has worked with [Oscar] Seagle, etc. One of the letters (MLT D4315.G776 (1)), apparently signed "Jean," is in a different hand but bears the de Reszke leterhead address (53, rue de la Faisanderie).
