Letters, notes, telegrams and reports relating to the operations of the Old Manse Library (Newcastle, N.B.) and other Miramichi projects. The file discusses the ordering of periodicals for the library, Beaverbrook's gifts of books, etc. to it; Louise Manny's invitation to sit on a committee established to supervise the maintenance of The Square (Newcastle, N.B.); the hiring of a caretaker; the origins and donors of the fountain and basin which are located in The Square and CBC folksinger Alan Mills. Also on file are Louise Manny's reports [Nov. 1955; Dec. 1958; May and Sept. 1959] and a copy of her French broadcast delivered over CBC French Network in which she discusses Beaverbrook's youth and his contributions to the Miramichi region.

Louise Manny, 1890-1970, provided Beaverbrook's ongoing contact with his native Newcastle. Their correspondence spans from 1946 to his death in 1964. Beaverbrook supported her in her historical research on the Miramichi, her folk song collecting, and her work in the development of the historic burial ground at Wilson's (Beaubair's) Point into a park named The Enclosure. In the early 1950s he appointed her in charge of the Old Manse Library, his boyhood home, where she continued until her death. ...
