Letters, soundscribers, telegrams, quotations and estimates relating to the printing of catalogues, guidebooks, postcards and brochures for the Beaverbrook Art Gallery to be ready for the gallery opening. Samples of paper, postcards, guidebooks, brochures, pamphlets and invitation cards are also included. As well there is some discussion on illustrations to be incorporated in a book on the gallery. The file contains catalogues from the Tate Gallery and the exhibition of British painting in the Eighteenth Century.

Michael Wardell joined the Beaverbrook newspapers in London in 1926 after a career in the military. With the outbreak of the Second World War he rejoined the army and finally retired with the rank of Brigadier in 1946. He returned to Fleet Street and eventually became vice-chairman to the Beaverbrook organization. In 1950 he came to Fredericton and bought the Daily Gleaner.
