Chiefly photographs of ornamental pieces to go into the Square in Newcastle, N.B., along with correspondence (some photocopies) relating to the purchase of various ornamental pieces and landscaping plan of The Square. Also included are excerpts from the Union Advocate, making reference to a fountain in the Newcastle Park of the time (1895) and a passage from "Boswell in search of a wife" (1768) referring to "old Mr. Aitken, the dissenting clergyman."

James Boswell (1740-1795) was the author of one of the most influential biographies in the English language, The Life of Samuel Johnson, LL.D. He also wrote two successful travel books: An Account of Corsica, and The Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides.
