Chiefly typed and mimeographed material, and clippings relating to members of the Warren family in North Carolina. There is a listing of the Warren lineage during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, beginning with William Warren. Included are a "Biographical Sketch, William Warren of Beaufort Co., N.C., 1754-1824", and "An Autobiographical Sketch of Jesse J. Warren, 1857-1948." William Warren enlisted in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and then bought land in Beaufort County. The collection also includes an eulogy for Jesse Warren, who worked in a store and then as a farmer in North Carolina. Clippings pertain to Millard W. Warren (1952) and Bob Warren (1930s).

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff. This special unit, the Commander in Chief's Guard, was formed on March 12, 1776 with Captain Caleb Gibbs (formerly adjutant of the 14th Continental Regiment and appointed Aid to Major General Greene) as commander.
