Letter : Washington, D.C., to Mattie U. Russell, 1976 Sept. 22.

Concerns the friendship of Webb with James Thomas Williams, an editor and newspaperman, and later lecturer from Lincolnton, N.C. Williams was working in Washington D.C. when Webb came to that city early in his career as Secretary to the Chairman of the House Rules Committee, Edward Pou, from Smithfield, N.C. During their long friendship, which began in the early 1930s, Webb and Williams frequently discussed early aviation, air mail service, and national and international politics. Webb later recounts how both men were employed by the Sperry Gyroscope Company.
