Student Publications, 1910-1980.

Contents: St. Francis Seminary, De Sales Preparatory Seminary, and De Sales College student publications. This collection consists largely of class papers, which appear to have been an English class requirement for first year seminarians. These papers contain short stories and poetry written by the students, as well as sections containing newsworthy articles, sports, humor, and on occasion, a chronology or history of the students' first year at the seminary. In addition to improving writing skills, these papers were to serve as a memoir for the students. The collection also contains club and society newsletters, and conference bulletins to keep students informed about activities and events, and/or to stimulate interest in a particular area. Student newspapers are also included in the collection. Of particular interest is THE PENMAN (1943-1979), the St. Francis Minor Seminary/De Sales Preparatory High School newspaper. The papers in the collection portray life at St. Francis Seminary, introducing the seminarians and faculty, classes, as well as student activities and organizations.
