Papers of an architect and engineer of Portland, Oregon, and San Francisco, California. Correspondence includes: letters between Schacht and his daughter Helen, 1929-1930; business correspondence, 1919-1932, concerning the Foundation Company, Port of Astoria, Medical Arts Building, and Spalding Building (both buildings in Portland); plans/estimates of various buildings, including the Portland Public Market; and receipts. Also includes 26 plans, elevations, and sections on 14 sheets (53 x 83 cm.) for the Swiss Hall Association of Portland, a building on SW 3rd Avenue near Jefferson Street, 1909 (revised 1910), by Emil Schacht and Son, Architects.

Architect and engineer Martin Schacht was the son of Portland, Oregon architect Emil Schacht. The younger Schacht served as manager of the Foundation Company of America, supervising construction of the Port of Astoria, Oregon, and later working for the company in San Francisco, where his projects included bridge construction.
