The first and the last : Manaton : autograph manuscript signed, 1913-1914.

Heavily revised with numerous autograph deletions and alterations, and paginated by Galsworthy. Preceded by an autograph title page reading "Original manuscript of The First and the Last by John Galsworthy." Title page also with autograph notes reading: "The first fifty pages of this ms was written at Wingstone Manaton Devon in the Spring of 1913; the rest at Wingstone in December 1914. The story was dramatized in July 1914, by me. J.G." and "The story is the first in the volume called Five Tales. J.G."
