Ledgers and daybooks of a family blacksmith enterprise in South Orange, N.J.; mainly records of David J. Beach, but includes records of his father and grandfather and accounts kept by later members of the family: David N. Beach, J.W. Beach, Alden Walkley, and Stephen Walkley. The family made bayonets for a local military company during the Revolution, and later some of them lived in Southington, Conn.

David Nelson Beach (1848-1926) was an American theologian, who graduated from Yale College (AB 1872) and from Yale Divinity School in 1876. He became a Congregational minister with a parish at Westerly, Rhode Island. Later Beach had parishes at Wakefield and Cambridge, Massachusetts, and also in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Denver, Colorado.
