Receipt book : manuscript, 1773-1780.

Containing 94 receipts for bills paid by Gibbon, each signed by various creditors. Also containing three receipted bills (one each from a doctor (Robert James, 18 August 1780), a bookseller (Thomas Payne, 11 March 1780), and a bookbinder (S. Hall, 24 June 1780)). The receipted bill for Thomas Payne (dated 11 March 1780) includes an autograph correction by Gibbon, and three additional receipts are also in his hand. Of the three receipts in Gibbon's autograph, two are dated 13 May 1773 (to his employee John Lusse for £153.6; and to his employee John Caplan or Caplen for £2), and one is dated 7 August 1773 (to François Berger for £23). Entries are dated 21 April 1773 to 23 November 1780.
