Business records, 1778-1899 (inclusive).

The material includes letters; accounts of cargoes sold, and invoices of goods purchased at various ports; accounts current, with captains of vessels; insurance papers. In the main the papers constitute the records of a shipping merchant for the years 1778-1818. Closely allied to these papers are two boxes of material running as late as 1899, relating to the French Spoliation Claims. There are also papers relating to the Boston Sugar Refinery and the Provident Institution for Savings, Boston.
