Berea College theatre oral history collection 1988 / by Rose Linville.

This collection consists of audio cassettes and transcripts of interviews with twenty Berea College faculty and staff, some of whom were also alumni. The interviews document the development of the college's theatre activities including both the curricular program and the co-curricular Theatre Laboratory labor program. The time span of the interviewee's involvement with Berea's theatre program ranged from the 1930s up to the then present, 1988. The interviews were recorded by Linville Rose during the 1988 fall semester.

The National Advisory Commission on Rural Poverty was appointed by President Lyndon Johnson to advise him concerning legislative actions needed to implement his "war on poverty." The Berea hearing included testimony from Kentucky Governor Edward Breathitt and 30 other public officials, representatives of nonprofit agencies, and ordinary citizens. Although the sources of photographs are not always indicated, the bulk was apparently generated in the Berea College Publicity Department and the College News Bureau.
