Sir James Douglas (1803-1877) worked for the North West Company under Dr. McLauglin at Fort Vancouver and later succeeded him as chief factor. In 1849 he moved to Victoria and served as governor of the Hudson's Bay Company on Vancouver Island until 1859, when he as appointed governor of British Columbia. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
