Janet Paterson Frame was born on August 28, 1924 in Dunedin, New Zealand. She published novels, an autobiography in three separately published parts, and collections of short stories and poetry. One novel, A State of Siege, became a film, and Jane Campion based her film, An Angel at My Table, on Michael King's biography of Frame.
