John Treadwell, Connecticut's fourth governor, was born at Farmington, CT, on November 23, 1745. He graduated from Yale in 1767. In 1776 his townsmen elected him as their representative in the General Assembly, an office he held for the next seven years, when in 1783, he was elevated to the governor's council, where he continued until 1798.
