Mabel Boardman letter, copy, 1916.

The collection consists of a carbon copy of a typewritten letter from Mabel Boardman to Hon, John J. Fitzgerald, July 29, 1916. In the letter, Miss Boardman states that the Executive Committee is opposed to a proposed memorial tablet to Clara Barton's memory to be placed in the Memorial Building to the Heroic Women of the Civil War for two reasons. The first reason is that Dorothea Dix rendered the greatest service of any woman in the war and that Miss Barton misused funds of the American Red Cross while she was president.
