California mission and church miscellany, 1773-1846.

Letters, documents and fragments related to the California missions and the Catholic Church. Among the items included are a fragment in the hand of Junipero Serra, fragments signed by Juan Crespi and Fermin Francisco de Lasuen, letters from Magin Catala, Landaeta Martín, Juan Saenz de Lucio, Gervasio Argüello, Luis Gil y Taboada, Fernando Martín, Vicente Francisco Sarría, Gerónimo Boscana, José Bernardo Sánchez, Antonio Jimeno, Felipe Lugo, José Cordero, Mariano Riva Palacio and others. Also included are a baptismal certificate, a "carta confidencial" to all the mission fathers from Mariano Payeras, and receipt signed by Francisco Ballasteros for goods received including lists for each mission.

Fermín Francisco de Lasuén was a Franciscan friar and missionary. Between 1767 and 1785, he administered a number of missions in Baja and Alta California, including the San Francisco de Borja, San Gabriel, San Juan Capistrano, and San Diego missions.
