Cranberry Girdler--New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, circular 314, April 1934.

The cranberry girdler is reputed to be the most destructive insect that attacks cranberry vines in New Jersey. It is the most persistent of the ordinary pests and probably the most difficult to control on a large scale. However, it is vulnerable to ordinary control methods, and considerable progress has been made in its eradication.

With the pasage of the Morrill Act in 1864, Rutgers College was designated a Land-Grant college for New Jersey and developed the State College for Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts as well as an experimental farm, known as the College Farm.
