Records include correspondence and other files relating to the administration of the Department of History and its relations with other departments and units of the university. Though there are some files pertaining to individual courses, these records contain little about the history curriculum. There is, however, a great deal of material about the history faculty. The administrative files contain correspondence about appointments, tenure, and promotions; the faculty affairs files pertain to the service of the history faculty on various university committees; and the faculty correspondence files relate to teaching, writing, research, and other professional matters.
