Letters addressed to John Donovan of The History Company and biographical sketch prepared therefrom for Chronicles of the Builders. Concerning Dr. Locke's family; membership in the Boston and Newton Joint Stock Association (a Gold Rush company) with list of members; life in California and founding of Lockeford; and his support of the temperance movement. Also, notes concerning Elmer H. Locke. With these: photocopies of Dr. Locke's certificate of membership, 1861, California Youth's Association, and passport, 1849, issued to Wm. H. Nichols, member of the Boston and Newton Association, by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (signed by the governor).

Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area.
