An epic in 31 cantos of 10 octaves each by a member of the Dominican Convent of Rosario in Guadalajara, describing the Spainish conquest of Jalisco and also the founding and development of Guadalajara, during the period 1530-1547. There are notes following the majority of the cantos and three appended prose summaries listing respectively the presidents of the province through 1805, the bishops of the See to the time of Ruiz de Cabañas, and the cities and towns of the Intendancy. Copy of the original Ms. rescued by José Fernando Ramírez during the 1861 disturbance from the Dominican library in Mexico City and deposited by him in the library of the Museo Nacional. A foreword, apparently in the hand of Ramírez, describes the original and states that two preliminary pages were lost.
