Language and Culture Archive of Ashkenazic Jewry. Recordings and transcripts, ca.1950-1998.

The collection includes tape recordings and partial transcripts. A questionnaire was used to interview a geographical range of informants. The resulting tape recordings have been partially transcribed and indexed. The Language and Culture Atlas of Ashkenazic Jewry is an ongoing publication project based on the data collected in this study.

282 linear ft. (ca.110,000 items in 195 boxes, 8 flat boxes, 9 cartons, 4 filing cabinet drawers, 18 card file boxes, many oversized folders, 3 transfiles, 10 volumes, ca.3,000 reels of tape & wire recordings,& many copies on DAT & CD).
