Description: One bound volume, in German, containing a list of members, minutes, and some financial information. German students at St. Francis Seminary organized this half-literary, half-social society in the early 1880s. Members gave speeches in German and published a monthy paper STIMMEN AUS DEM TARTARUS. Like the student clubs in German universities, Die Republik imposed on its candidates the name of some leader in art, science or politics.
