Mainly accounts of numerous business transactions, chiefly concerned with real estate in widely scattered parts of the country, but with many personal entries of great biographical importance. Hackett's theatrical career is but little reflected, though details of many appearances in California in 1860 are recorded. The last entry is dated May 9, 1868.
