Correspondents: [Charles] Macklin and Mrs. Pigott. The letter of 1759 discusses terms for Macklin's and his daughter [Maria's] appearance [at the Smock Alley Theatre] and suggests certain comedies. The letter of 1774 advises Mrs. Pigott on her acting of the heroine in "Jane Shore" and includes his "Prologue for the Tragedy of Jane Shore, to be perform'd in Staffordshire by Ladies and Gentlemen," beginning "Our Annals tell, to grace the Drama's page..." The letter also discusses "the Affair of the Colonies!" The letter apparently was written after the one printed in his Original letters...1776, I, 352.
