Warren Hussey and Charles L. Dahler were partners in a banking firm operating at Helena and Virginia City, Montana, and at Great Salt Lake City, Utah, Dahler being the resident Montana partner. The first volume is a record of gold dust transactions at Helena, 1865-1867; the others are letterpress copies of letters sent, 1867-1872. See also under Dahler.

Warren Hussey was born near Terre Haute, Indiana in 1836. At the age of nineteen he went to Leavenworth, Kansas to join one of Russell, Majors and Waddell's supply trains bound for Salt Lake City. He left the train at Fort Kearny, Nebraska, and by 1861 had worked his way to Denver, Colorado, where he opened an office for the purchase of gold. In May 1866, Warren Hussey and Charles L. Dahler opened branches of their Salt Lake City, Utah, bank in Helena and Virginia City, Montana Territory, by buying out the earlier Allen and Millard banks. The Helena bank operated until 1871 when it was sold to Fox, Lyster and Roe. The Virginia City bank was taken over by C.L. Dahler in 1872.
