Copies of poems or riddles in verse (meles) follow. v. 2 (partially in Hawaiian) Feb. 25, 1881-July, 1895, chiefly for Iolani Palace. v. 3, Feb. 10, 1898-Mar. 13, 1899, chiefly claims against Queen Kapiolani. Inventory (made later in pencil) of the palace follows.

Kapiʻolani (December 31, 1834 – June 24, 1899) was the queen of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi as the consort of her second husband Mōʻī (king) Kalākaua, who reigned from 1874 to 1891 until Kalākaua's death when she became known as the Dowager Queen Kapiʻolani. Kapi'olani was also sister-in-law to Liliʻuokalani, the last sovereign monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
