"The Position of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the University, the State and the Nation," March 25-27, 1951 [sound recording].

The collection consists of 17 reel to reel audio tape recordings of addresses delivered at a conference held at SIO in La Jolla to celebrate the opening of the Thomas Wayland Vaughan Aquarium-Museum and celebrating the 83rd Charter Day of the University of California. Recordings are 7 inch reel to reel tapes, run at 7 1/2 ips speed. Speakers include Roger Revelle, Claude ZoBell, Norris Rakestraw, B. B. Cox, A. Redfield, D. Merriman, Carl Eckart, Francis Shepard, Carl Leavitt Hubbs, Detlev Bronk and others. A rough transcript was made from the tape. The tapes are audible, but in poor condition. Some have breaks and include loud background noises.
