Memorial service, February 27, 1986 [sound recording].

The collection consists of one 90 minute audio cassette tape taken during the H. William Menard Memorial Service on February 27, 1986. The recollections were given by Roger Revelle, William Nierenberg, Robert Dietz, Edwin Hamilton, Edward Buffington, Tanya Atwater, Tom Jordan, Marcia McNutt and Richard Hey. The introductions were given by John Orcutt and Gerald Wasserburg.

Marine geology professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 1955 until his death. He served on several committees of the National Academy of Sciences relating to environmental issues during the 1970's. A very active field geologist, Menard made over 1,000 aqua-lung dives and participated in 20 oceanographic expeditions.
